16 - 19 Financial Support

The 16-19 Tuition Fund 2020-2021

The 16 to 19 tuition fund is £96 million of one-off funding for the 2020 to 2021 academic year only. It is ring fenced funding for schools, colleges and all other 16 to 19 providers to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus (COVID-19). The funding is being provided to support small group tuition for 16 to 19 students in English, Maths, and other courses where learning has been disrupted. 

Glossopdale Sixth Form Total Funding Allocation

£4869 - received in two payments of £1623 November 2020 followed by monthly instalments of £405.75

We intend to spend the funds in the following way:




Success criteria

Weekly Maths GCSE tuition in groups of 2 with specialist Maths tutor. 


Students to make a least one grade progress in their Maths GCSE 2021

One to one online tuition for resit GCSE English student.


Student to achieve at least a grade 4 in English GCSE resit.

Weekly literacy support for a cohort of 10 Yr 12, grade 4 English, students completing vocational Level 3 courses.


Assignments to be submitted for vocational courses to at least Merit level.


16 - 19 Bursary 

Each year the government issues further education colleges funding to support those students who may face financial barriers. Previously this help has proved invaluable to our students and it is offered again this year. The bursary is designed to support students by meeting the costs of essential student kit such as stationery, books, equipment and travel.

If your household income falls within one of three bandings you may be eligible for funding in kind for an amount up to:

* Band 1 – annual household income of £16, 190 or less you may be entitled to up to £900

 * Band 2 – annual household income of between £16, 190 and £20, 817 you may be entitled to up to £600

 * Band 3 – annual household income of between £20,817 and £25, 521 you may be entitled to up to £300
